PLEASANT DAY
12 Inch
18.07.11
one of the leading figures in the modern house and techno movement, patrick chardronnet returns to audiomatique with another surefire weapon for the summer. >pleasant day< is perfect for the open air season, yet contrary to what its title suggests, its a dark, funky and freaky tune that carries many trademarks of the audiomatique sound. liquid synths and acidic bass fused with modern drums are all precision engineered to the super high quality level youd expect from chardronnet. the lush and divinely deep >aim< takes us further into the sound capabilities of this seasoned studio hand. fluttering, tropical moods soar through colourful layers of dubbed synth textures and strong, surging bass
DEUX ELEMENTS
12 Inch
18.07.11
for cadenzas latest output, the imprint serve up something a little different from usual with a versus ep from two astonishingly contrasting yet equally prominent artists within electronic music. no remixes or reinterpretations are to be seen but instead, a meeting of minds between mirko loko and stacey pullen with deux elements. titled in fitting reflection of the combination of swiss born mirko loko and detroit innovator stacey pullen, this two track cut is as its name projects in all musical and conceptual aspects. whilst mirko loko is by no means new to cadenza after releasing his highly praised seventynine album on the label in 2009, stacey pullen is a fresh cadenza artist that the label couldnt be more excited to have aboard
this is >deux elements< the eps first piece is >formulaic mode<, a twisted combination of chaotic clicks merged with underlying melodies and a serene ambience of calm.
MORNING CAFFEINE

18.07.11
morning caffeine is the debut release by poker flats martin landsky on mobilee that we have all been waiting for! as a poker flat artist with huge success to his name for various remixes, he boasts a discography that reads like a guide through electronic musics hottest sounds. always refusing to be pigeonhold, landsky continuously embraces different paths and once again hes brought something new to the table. title track morning caffeine (main mix) kick starts the ep with both a dark and uplifting mood as a slightly twisted loop continues to build throughout the track, never really culminating but carrying on inescapably, whilst in contrast the organ dub version offers a much lighter and bouncier atmosphere. aint nobodys is the pleasant surprise of the ep, once again demonstrating landkys musical diversity and serving up really special warm dreamy vibes

12 Inch
18.07.11
for the 10th release on soweos we are proud to present
the return of dj w!ld on our beloved label after his amazing >con estrellas< ep. the >dance until i die< ep is typical w!ld style house track that was made to be played out loud. sexy subs and a psychedelic breakdown we have come to know and love of his sound. also included is a remix by label head lauhaus, that brings the title track to a more groovy affair. he keeps the vibe of the original, but gives it a typical amsterdam twist
UTOPIAN MAN
12 Inch
18.07.11
one of italys strongest techno forces returns with his third release for sonic groove. obtanes latest expedition comes in the form of two songs. >utopian man< starts the release off . a highly infectious foot and mind burner with sweeping bass sounds, dark atmospherics & solid rhythms. overlap this with catchy detroit styled keyboard stabs and you are in for a 10 minute ride into worlds unknown. as one ride ends the next one begins with symbology of decline. this banger of a peak time dance floor techno track wreaks of old school belgian techno flavor. the main hook of the track sweeps and swooshes its way through the speaker cones while the drums punish the speakers and listener further into submission. the perfect formulation of rhythm and sound and another 1/2 knock out punch from obtane.
LOVE WITHOUT A HEART
12 Inch
15.07.11
nice price deal !!! the third release from the pmr stable showcases another precocious young talent in the shape of vocalist javeon mccarthy, whos teamed up with fellow bristolian julio bashmore to serve up a slo mo future-soul burner. booming subs, cowbells and analog synths provide a brooding, dubbed out, 100bpm backdrop for mccarthys plaintive vocals. theres nothing stagey here though its the restraint that delivers the emotion. think chicago after the party. meanwhile, brey of die barbie musik kollektiv flips it into a percussive, height of the night monster on the b-side. radio one played by mistajam, annie mac, nick grimshaw, ronnie herel.
THE PYRAMIDS EP

such an intense, variegated, and singularly saccharin sound can only come from the mind of someone whos in love with life and music. its what puppy love sounds like for our generation. following the paul woolford remix of t. williams and terri walkers heartbeat comes local action 006, the first 12inch release by an amazing new artist from manchester, uk, called damu. after this, hes got material penciled in for blackdowns keysound label and more. the title track, a stand-out from girl units xlr8r podcast last year, is one of the best tunes weve put out yet, full of colour with just the right amount of lushness to it. while a lot of uk dance music right now seems to use colourful synths in an unimaginative way, damus drip, glow and fizz at every turn in the same way that ill blu or funkystepz do. listening to mermaids like diving head-first into a lagoon. after that youve got three more killers: the iron assault of >beat of zen< and the few-more-intense >sequinny<, plus a beat of zen remix by chicago juke titans dj rashad and dj earl. early support comes from lv, girl unit, sinden, brodinski, starkey and more

NIGHTLIFE / VIRGO PRINCESS
12 Inch
15.07.11
fantastic remastered reissue of the original solar sound 12 inch release of nightlife, a stone-cold rare groove classic from blackbyrds guitarist barney blair perry. an absolute gem of a record that has become one of the holy grails of the scene going for mega bucks on the rare occasions copies surface on ebay, discogs etc. recorded back in 1978, nightlife is simply stunning - with phat bass and a wonderfully soulful groove that never fails to ignite the dancefloor and superb guitar work from the masterful mr perry. if that wasnt enough, the flipside features the equally beautiful deep fusion sounds of >virgo princess<. quality music and an essential purchase
seiji the much-lauded and respected producer from west london returns with the penultimate part of his 2010-launched seiji series. having successfully explored a career path thats established him as a founding member of broken beat originators bugz in the attic, a key artist for the seminal jungle/d n b label reinforced, a downbeat solo artist for sonar kollectiv and a producer and co-writer for the brilliant roisin murphy, in 2011 seiji is a man focused squarely on the dancefloor. the seiji series is just one part of that with seiji stripping things right back, identifying each release with a simple number and putting all his energy into creating music that he truly believes in. a merging of sounds and influences that have always been with him, but have never sounded so right encapsulating everything thats exciting about the underground uk scene at the moment. as with the previous two releases, seiji 4 is a double a-side focusing on the current uk house sound, a bit soulful, a bit funky a bit jacking, with two solid heavy grooves that are going to work on any house dance floor. no other has a really soulful vocal sample, a rolling reese bass riff and percussive uk house beats. easy is more of an infectious skippy house groove with a chunky bass hook and deep techno pads
HOT BLOBS EP
12 Inch
15.07.11
with upcoming releases on top class labels like american standard, sleazybeats and ene tokyo, edinburghs lord of the isles ventures forth with the debut 12inch on his own limited edition imprint little strong recordings. what you get is three excursions into deeper territories. the a sides >hot blob< is a slice of detroit inspired wonkiness designed for dancers. with a seriously seductive bass line, acidy techno flourishes, underground keys and soulful ghostly voices, the track heads off into the deepness with all the class of a planet e classic. on the flip side, deep house track >tell your soul< pitches that perennial question (and sample) which asks >what is house music ?< across a frozen lake of reflecting and melting keyboard maneuvers, with a definite nod to larry heard, this psychedelic shimmering beauty is made for afternoon drifting. last up >this way< is the gem at the end, built for early morning sub club styled revelry, this stuttering, sub aquatic jam is strictly for the heads. deep, churning and soulful in the right way. with this ep, lord of the isles offers us a glimpse into the mighty depths of his personal catalogue and its very deep indeed!
GALACTIC MELT (2X12 LP + DL-CODE)
2x12 Inch LP + DL Code
15.07.11
when talking about the music of com truise (one of the many pseudonyms of new jersey designer/musician seth haley), the nostalgia bit inevitably comes up, so lets get that out of the way. yes, his songs tap classic sci-fi and proto-electro in a way that is distinctly early eighties in scope. but theyre also remarkably weird--stutter-step proggy and intoxicatingly psychedelic, like those classic touchstones got drunk on lava lamp juice inside a pinball machine. after his well-received cyanide sisters ep, a grip of remixes for artists like twin shadow, neon indian, and, uh, daft punk, and a few floating mp3s, truises first lp, galactic melt, will finally enter brainspaces this summer.

the three tracker gets off with a lovely post basic channel, dub techno interpretation of a techno track for the warmer days. the b side does a great job in fusing soft beats and low key melodies with raw structure, drive and pressure. plangent records slowly becomes the face for the otherside of berlin techno together with a label such as giegling. gritty deep techno, with some influences from dubstep here and there... slowly moving away from the much abused detroit reference. definitely worth the listen!

COSMIC OBSERVER EP
12 Inch
15.07.11
now hes back with three glorious deep techno tracks that mark the start of an interplanetary trilogy for the label. lead track >exopshere< takes up where his komisch debut left off, with foreboding, dub-tinged chords building into a menacing climax and swarms of driving, razor sharp percussion keeping the arrangement focused on the dance floor. on the flip, >deep end< sees parallel exploring more esoteric sounds, with swirling, layered chords underpinned by dubbed out drums, heavy claps and hissing percussion, like an update of classic sterac material. >analogue city< brings a mellow end to the release. deep pads and ghostly sounds hover above a warm, splurging bassline that recalls underground resistance in mellow, tripped out mode. if youre looking for the classic sounds reinterpreted for contemporary techno dance floors, then make sure to get an audience with the >cosmic observer<.

if you were to cut neville watson he would bleed acid house, he would also quite likely knock you flat on your arse for having the temerity to wave a knife at him, but thats a whole other story. for his first wu contribution he ventures down the ethereal proto-house boulevard. jacking 707 patterns, a bouncing juno bassline and outer-space synth lines take you into the upper atmosphere for a glorious airborne joyride. as ever, neville manages to evoke those 85-89 feelings without ever sounding merely retro or like some kind of pastiche, something that many attempt but very few manage to pull off. over on side u apiento, the force behind the magisterially brilliant testpressing website, chips in with a heartfelt homage to the new beat sound. another testimony to the fact that a lower tempo doesnt have to mean diminished energy levels, the orange place simply oozes class from top to bottom. like some lost ancienne belgique classic it pounds and pumps along, building up the tension all the while until the quasi- eastern refrain lets loose half way thru and all of a sudden a mystic portal opens up in the space-time continuum that leads all the way to southwark street in late 87.

in denmark, there rages a lively and experimental techno scene - and its not only a recent phenomenon. the best proof are phono and kemi, two danish imports to the berlin record label, highgrade records. the two chaps complement each other in a musically virtuoso fashion: phono, jacob thiessen, spent his childhood playing around with sequencers and drum machines: over the years he has stuck to this passion and as such, has developed a reputation as an experienced house and techno producer. kim kemi, by contrast, has been a dj since the beginning, and since the 90s has been one of the key figures in the copenhagen club scene. together they have not only performed regularly at the biggest events in denmarks capital, but have also ensured through their many releases, ever changing accents and atmospheres on the turntables. this wealth of combined musical experience can be heard instantly on their latest outing for highgrade >decompose<. the three tracks, >decompose<, >exterminators< & >last night< assemble rhythms that come from punk, elegant voices and dizzying loops a multi-layered sound excursion. the result is a perfectly produced ep, but one that has not been ironed smooth. with the >made in denmark< seal of quality, phono and kemi bring some extra depth to the party attitude

new kanada wades deep into the white waters of bass for this black summerdub. >my best dress< is a tough, confident jacker with awesome, mystic vocals by rosina of lal. 808 thumps, moog whispers, and a serious cr78 swing nicholas murray (aka murr) really massages the mixing board on this one, and the resulting production shimmers with unexpected aggression. adams remix extends the raw groove into a 12-minute journey that beats the wooden floorboards into pleasant submission. disco hats, b52 bass lines and suburban base drops the new feel for the old style. new kanada goes blue.

SATURDAY NIGHT MANIFESTO EP

recloose is back with a state-of-the-art house 12 inch. two refreshing house tracks on the a side, and a banging heavy one on the b that-s leaning towards electro. the recloose as we once knew him is back. glorious! -saturday night manifesto- is his first new output in three years. it was well worth the wait, the music at hand here is truly mesmerizing.the ep shows a night out recloose style. it starts out smooth and mellow with -electric sunshine-, a heartfelt future soul piece. it then moves on to the bumping groove of -parquet-, a shaker that carries that signature recloose funk. it closes out the night with -tecumseh-, a dirt-deadly primetime mover that opens up halfway and make you want to reach for the stars and then some. with -saturday night manifesto- recloose delivers a classic ep that reminds us of his -spelunking ep-. yes
